Streets belong to all——design and practice of green streetscape

The Streets belongs to all, including those who drive and those who do not drive. Most of our fond memories as a child are associated with streets. The alleys contained so much happiness and joy and were part of life for the kids in the
neighborhood.
Now they are gone with the fast developments in the cities. Streets became high ways and parking. What is lost are also the memories and attachment with the city.
The importance designing green streetscapes- streets that are pedestrian oriented and does not disturb community life- the design techniques and design principles. Beauty is not skin deep, the green streetscapes is creating a pedestrians and bicycle friendly, there will provide the pedestrians path, handicapped ramp, drainage, signage, planting, seating area, water feature and public arts. Green streetscape also means to use ecological method such as bio-swale to collect and filter the storm water. Combined with proper design, it offers great aesthetic and ecological value to our streets, which occupies 25-30% of our urban space.
