The Forte development is located in a new district of Gongsu in Hangzhou. The site is located at a juncture of major highways, a bus terminus, and subway station and straddles the main entry road to the new district. The context of connectivity and movement became the main inspiration for our conceptual approach. The design divides the landscape into a system of pathways that echoes a subway map. Water features (rain garden and channels), sculptural landforms and green belts connect the sites either side of the entry road, the sites to the green reserve, park, bus and subway. These connections were designed as individual journeys for shopping, recreation, commuting and entertainment.
